Moonlighting

Mounting fixtures high in a tree to cast soft, dappled light like natural moonlight.

Moonlighting is a downlighting technique that places fixtures high in the branches of a large tree, aimed downward so the light filters through the leaves and casts soft, shifting shadows on the ground below. The effect imitates the gentle glow of a full moon passing through the canopy, one of the most natural and romantic looks in all of landscape lighting. Because the source is hidden high overhead, there is no glare and no visible fixture, only the result. It lights patios, lawns, and walkways with a quiet, organic quality that feels nothing like a floodlit yard. We install it in mature trees to bathe a whole seating area in flattering, dappled light.
