Spotlight

A narrow-beam fixture that focuses a tight, punchy beam on a single feature.

A spotlight is a fixture built around a narrow beam spread, typically 10 to 20 degrees, that concentrates light into a tight, focused beam. Where a flood blankets a broad area, a spotlight isolates a single subject, such as a slender tree trunk, a statue, a flagpole, or one architectural detail you want to make the star of the scene. Its precision lets a designer build contrast, drawing the eye to a focal point and letting the surroundings fall away into darkness. Spotlights are often paired with wider floods to balance focus against fill. We aim them carefully and shield them against glare so the viewer sees the lit object, never the source.
